About the South London Swimming Club (SLSC)
We are one of England’s oldest swimming clubs, founded in 1906, and have been holding our races at Tooting Bec Lido since 1908. We are a very sociable and inclusive club with members from birth to over 90 and every kind of swimmer from those wanting a leisurely meander through to long distance swimmers training for the Channel. We hold many events in addition to and alongside swimming activities and have a contract for exclusive use of the Lido in winter.
Please remember the SLSC is a members’ club run voluntarily by members for members, not a service provider. As a club member you are expected to support the Club’s objectives and code of conduct, volunteer at Club events and play a part in the running of the Club to ensure the future of the Lido. In winter Tooting Bec Lido is open exclusively to members of the SLSC. You MUST be a member to use the Lido during the winter season – 1 October 2026 to 30 April 2027. Places Leisure membership does NOT give you access to the Lido in winter.
SLSC offers only Annual or Winter Membership. Your membership will expire 31 March 2027 whatever date you join.

Our fees are made up of the Club membership subscription plus a Tooting Bec Lido pass fee to use the Lido with no extra charge as often as you like.
Please be aware SLSC membership is processed by volunteers and it may take up to two weeks for you to receive your Membership and Access Card.
Discounted winter SLSC membership from 1 September valid until 31 March 2027.

*Under-8s are free. Please add children to your account if you bring them to the Lido regularly.
*Children under 14 must be added to your account and must be accompanied by an adult at the Lido.
Children 14 and over should have their own account.
Age groups are determined by your age on the 31 December 2026
You can apply for Club membership only for those only wanting to participate in events, coached training and water polo sessions (not buy a Lido pass to swim at the Lido or for those who have a Places Leisure summer pass to the Lido).
Club membership entitles you to take advantage of the following:
- buy a Tooting Bec Lido Pass and swim as often as you like for free throughout the year including from October to April when the pool is closed to the public
- join in the Sunday morning handicap races – they’re not too serious and there’s coffee and cake afterwards
- use of the Club sauna in winter
- galas against other clubs
- improve your swimming at our indoor training sessions from September to June and outdoors at Tooting Bec Lido from May to July.
- indoor water polo sessions on Sunday afternoons and outdoors in June and July at at Tooting and Brockwell Lidos
- regular newsletters to keep you updated about what’s happening at the Lido
- Rookie lifeguard course in the summer for junior members aged 8 to 14
- reduced fees for open Club events, such as the Cold Water Swimming Championships and the Aquathon series
- reduced fees when you join the British Triathlon Federation (BTF). SLSC is affiliated to the BTF, look for South London Swimming Club when you select your club.
